INTO PURE FORM

I’ve been exploring the concept of a true form that is free from any human-centric symbolism. I wanted forms that call for themselves without representing a thought-image external to them

How can one conceive of such bodies without being influenced by one's own network of signs?

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve turned to AI-Generated Imagery.

What you're seeing are results of a pipeline of generative networks and auto-encoders trained on a latent space of the following distributions: “Normal”, “Poisson” and “Binomial".

The dataset used for training is collection of random abstract shapes that are transformed by random atmospheric noise to further increase the chaos in the dataset.

I have to say I was quite surprised to see the awareness of form that neural networks are capable of despite the induced randomness. Yet what was rather unsettling was the mechanistic nature of the “creative” process itself: Can pure form be just a result of a smart play around permutations and combinations?

What then does that say about our own creative processes?
